Avatar the Last Airbender episodes take place in a world that is home to spirits, humans and fantastic animals. The human civilization is divided into four nations, with each nation having its own natural element: the Fire Nation, the Air Nomads, the Water Tribes and the Earth Kingdom. Each country is also associated with a season: summer for the Fire Nation, autumn for the Air Nomads, winter for the Water Tribe and spring for the Earth Kingdom.Within each nations are humans capable of manipulating or bending the elements. These unique characters are called the Benders. Benders have the power to influence only one element. Another interesting individual is the Avatar himself. He is the only person capable of bending all four elements and at the same time, he serves as the bridge between the present world and the Spirit World. At any given time, there is just one Avatar. When he dies, he is reincarnated into the next nation according to the Cycle, following the order of the seasons.
For thousands of years, the four nations lived in peace and harmony. However, disaster struck. The Fire Nation waged a war for conquest and world domination and threatened to enslave the rest of the countries. Aang is the 12-year old Avatar who is tasked with restoring order in the world. Torn between wanting to be a normal teenager and the weight of the responsibilities he is facing, Aang embarks on a journey to save the world.
